Coming Soon: The Refused-Not So “Fucking Dead” After All

Legendary Punk Rockers to Hit Vancouver August 27th

Date: August 16, 2012
By: Desiree Mark

When news of a Refused reunion broke earlier this year, I was about ready to pack my suitcase, put on my SPF-Hipster 100, and jump the next flight to Coachella. Forget Tupac rising from the grave to play alongside Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre (oh wait, that wasn’t real you say?). All I really wanted was to see legendary Swedish punks The Refused reunited after an excruciating 14-year hiatus.

Date: July 26, 2012
By: Desiree Mark

Nothing makes me smile more than a little pop rock in the summertime. You know, the songs you’re singing surrounded by your friends on the way to the beach with the windows down. This year, one of our favourite summer anthems has got to be “Last Chance” by Vancouver’s own, Fighting For Ithaca. This track has not only secured them a spot on major hit radio stations across the city but has also earned them their rightful place on Remember MEdia’s EXCLUSIVE “Bands To Watch” list.

On my list of bands that can’t do anything wrong, Pierce The Veil proves again why they’re at the top, and undoubtedly leaders of their scene. Coming from a band that set the bar sky high last time round, Pierce The Veil truly had no other option than to “Collide with the Sky” this time.

Hit The Lights – Invicta

Proof That There is Life After Pop Punk

Hit The Lights-Invicta-ReviewRelease Date: January 31, 2012
Label: Razor & Tie
Rocks Like: Set Your Goals, Valencia, and Anberlin
Recommended Track(s): Gravity, Take Control
Rating: ****

It had been 4 years since the 2008 release of Hit The Lights last album Skip School, Start Fights, some people argue that, “this is far too long, and possibly just enough time for the majority of the music world to stop caring about you and start listening to Skrillex” (Nate Skalab from The Alternative Review). Yet, I’d have to disagree, Hit The Lights and their ever catchy, sugar coated pop punk held their place not only on my ipod but also in my heart. It’s that music you throw on, on a perfect blue-sky summer day, that music that reminds you of every good day you ever had with your friends drinking and causing trouble in the hallways of your high school. Its also the kind of music that if you put on once you should well expect it to be stuck in your head for the following week, the melodies are catchy and the lyrics will have you singing along for days.
