To start off the list with class I chose a dark and romantic 2008 Shiraz with a bold edge- Skulls. Imported from Southern Australia this wine is evilly delicious with an impressive 16.9% alcohol content, just the way I like it. The wine is deep purple in hue and is absolutely intoxicating with it’s intense dark fruit, smoke, and vanilla flavouring. I say perfect for a night of cuddling, and intelligent conversation on a blanket under the stars.
A distinctive, intriguing label for a wine that can only be described as midnight in a glass! It’s a deeply coloured, monster of a wine packed with bold red and black fruit aromas with a touch of licorice and vanilla. The palate is dense with floral, smoky oak, vanilla and spice flavours that are concentrated and intense. Well-balanced with firm tannins in the long, huge finish this Shiraz is extremely memorable. –TASTE Magazine
This feisty mocha would more correctly be called the “I-Can’t-Remember-Mocha,” seeing as you probably won’t remember a whole lot after a few of these. This troublesome beverage will surely make you a morning person. I love having one of these to start off any busy day, because after all, nothing can go wrong when starting your morning with pink marshmallows! This tasty treat also pairs perfectly with some acoustic guitar around a late night bonfire.
- 1 tbsp. Chocolate Syrup
- 1 cup 1% milk
- 1 Double Shot of Espresso
- ½ oz. Baileys
- ½ oz. Crème De Cacao
- 1 oz. Smirnoff Fluffed Marshmallow Vodka
- Cream Vanilla- Vodka Infused Whip Cream
- Pink Marshmallows
Mix It Up: This one’s nice and simple. Prepare your best mocha, carefully steaming milk and stirring in chocolate and espresso. Add in baileys, crème de cacao and marshmallow vodka blending together gently. Add a fluff of vodka infused whip cream, and a sprinkle of pink marshmallows. Mmm… cozy, warm-fuzzy, brutal.
3. SKITTLES VODKA RAINBOW SHOTS
One of the biggest DIY trends in vodka right now is Skittles infused vodka. I love this new twist on flavoured vodka for two particular reasons. 1. It combines two of my most favourite things, alcohol and candy. 2. Line up a shot of each flavour and you have a pretty little alcoholic rainbow. With a lovely mix-it and forget-it preparation, it’s a project I love to come back to the next day. Use mini bottles of vodka for a perfect summer party favour.
- 1 Pound Bag of Skittles
- 1.75 Liter of Vodka (I recommend premium, you know- Crystal Head, Belvedere, or Grey Goose)
Mix It Up: Start by separating your Skittles by colour, traditionally the original flavoured (red bag) is used, but I particularly love the tropical Skittles, which seem more fitting for the summer too. Set up an empty water bottle for each different flavour of vodka you are planning to make, and fill each bottle with 6 oz. of vodka. Then add in your Skittles, approximately 60 skittles per 6 oz. of vodka (which yields about 8 oz. when finished). Then close up your water bottles and shake, shake, shake! Leave the bottles to set over night and then shake one last time the next day before straining out the leftover Skittle residue using a coffee filter or paper towel. Then all you have to do is chill and pour some shots by the pool.
2.COTTON CANDY FLUFF-I-TINI
The ultimate girls night out drink (but hey the boys happen to love it too)! This is the perfect martini for a day in your Louboutin’s spent shopping or at the spa. I love watching the cotton candy melt down into my drink, that is if I don’t eat it all first 😉 Think the taste of rainbows, the colour pink, and all things cute and fluffy in one pretty drink. So hold up that fresh manicure and cheers to this!
- 1 ½ oz. Vodka
- ½ oz. X-rated Fusion Liqueur
- 1 oz. Cranberry Juice
- Pink Cotton Candy
Mix It Up: Shake together with ice vodka, x-rated fusion liqueur, and cranberry juice. Pour into your favourite martini glass and the garnish with a fluff of pink cotton candy. Prior to indulging, push the candy down into the martini, allowing it to melt and diffuse throughout the glass.
1.TORCHED CHERRY MOJITO
Finally I reach my #1 Thing To Get Drunk On for the summer of 2012. Whether you’re out on a tropical beach, having a girl’s night in, or throwing a poolside BBQ this fruity-flirty cocktail is sure to impress everyone around. Cherry-berry flavours blend well with cool mint to offer an update on a summer classic. Beware though, Bacardi has really outdone themselves this time, with such a sweet flavoured rum you may not realize that your two drink limit has turned to 10, oopsies!
- 2 oz. Bacardi Torched Cherry Rum
- ½ oz. Simple Syrup
- 5 Cherries
- 5 Raspberries
- 5 Medium Mint Leaves
- 2 Key Limes (cut in ½)
- Key Lime/Black Cherry Calorie-Free Sparkling Water
Mix It Up: First, chop up the mint leaves to release their flavour. Then, muddle together cherries, raspberries, mint, key limes, and simple syrup until you get a nice puree of fruit. Toss the fruit mixture in martini shaker with ice, add then add rum. Shake all this together and, pour it into tall glass. Top the mixture with half key lime, half cherry calorie free sparkling water and then garnish your cocktail with a lime wheel, mint sprig, and pair of cherries to make it look all pretty.
